Alycia supports families through times of crisis, helping to navigate divorce, custody, and domestic violence proceedings. She recognizes the complex histories and relationships that court proceedings cannot always fully address. She has a depth of understanding of family trauma and violence, child abuse and neglect, and the effects of substance abuse on family responsibilities. Alycia is experienced across the spectrum of family law, from divorce to domestic violence to adoption. She has often represented children, both as a Child in Need of Assistance attorney and as a Best Interest Attorney appointed by the court.
Alycia is a proud midwesterner, born and raised in Indiana. She attended Kenyon College in Ohio and received her Juris Doctor degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in 2009. Alycia began her legal career at the Southern Maryland Center for Family Advocacy, where she handled over 300 peace and protective order cases. In 2014, she joined the Southern Maryland office of Maryland Legal Aid as a Child in Need of Assistance attorney, where she represented children in the child welfare system throughout foster care, terminations of parental rights, and adoptions.

In 2019, Alycia was named as one of The Daily Record’s Leading Women, which recognizes women age 40 or younger for the tremendous accomplishments they have made so far in their careers, and judges on professional experience, community involvement and a commitment to inspiring change. In 2020, she was awarded the Daily Record’s Leadership in the Law, Generation JD Award which honors Maryland’s up-and-coming attorneys who already are making a difference in their profession and in their communities.
Youth are Alycia’s passion, and she advocates tirelessly for their interests and well-being. As an active member of the St. Mary’s County Bar Association, she volunteers on the scholarship committee, which awards a scholarship to a deserving senior in St. Mary’s County each spring. She serves on the Social Services Advisory Board, promoting the well-being of children and families. As a member of the Steering Committee for the Campaign for a Community/Youth Center, Alycia has advocated in person and via social media for St. Mary’s County to build a community space for youth and families where it is needed most. She also serves on the youth committees of several other community organizations.
Alycia has lived in St. Mary’s County for over a decade and is happy to call Southern Maryland her home because she believes that the values of this community in many ways match those that she was raised with: family as a priority, a slower pace of life, and a love of the outdoors. You will often see her and her family enjoying local parks and attending southern Maryland’s many family-friendly events.
